The only source of water in the village is the ice from lakes. There is no running water in the village. Blocks of ice folded in the yard next to the house.

Meat, fish and ice for drinking("Muus uuta") are kept in the cellars which are excavated into the permafrost. In summer they are frozen too.)

Houses are heated by wood stoves.

For preventing  penetration of frozen air into a house immediately there is antechamber, which is not heated, at the entrance of many houses...

A toilet is outside and it is not heated... It is usually built on the far angle of a yard...
A hole is dug...And a toilet is built from boards... A person, who didn't get used to it, can feel very uncomfortable to go to the toilet when temperature is - 50C'...
