How to survive in frozen Russian Siberia! Part 4. Shelter

Today I am going to visit my aunt's village) It will be a  long road...
Today is warmer outdoors -43C')

280 km of the winter road will takes 80-100 liters of fuel with a stock... We never know what will happen so I dressed warmly...  But whatever I wore, the clothes can protect only for hours, rarely for days...You should use this time to built a shelter or search the nearest village...

Driving past a village

Many people in dangerous situation in the cold set up a tent made of cloth or shelter made of wood or metal...But it is a HUGE mistake...which can be fatal... Meanwhile, the most helpful material is under your feet.)) an ordinary SNOW...Snow has a porous structure and keeps heat. It lends itself to any processing...

Snowy shelter, for example: digs - you can build for 1,5 hour - it can protect you from the cold and the wind...

My cousin is playing in snow

If the shelter is hermetical only due to the man's heat the temperature can rise to -10C' when it is -40C' outside... But if you have one candle it can be +4C'...

P.S. I want to share useful information: sometimes it may happen that you are very thirsty but there is no water...Here again snow can be helpful...But you can't just eat it...First of all, make a snowing ball then put it in your mouth and wait when it is melted then swallow water...
By the way you should know ice becomes melted faster than snow...
